If you are looking for help with your manuscript or need publishing advice, then you've come to the right place. Reach out and let's discuss how I can help.
What I Offer:
General Consulting & Coaching
Our discussions over Zoom or the phone can cover a wide range of writing and publishing topics: Tips and advice on narrative construction, character development, writing dialogue, and world building, the ins-and-outs of crafting a query letter, getting an agent, writing a pitch or synopsis, or working with a publisher. Other topics can include preparing for your book launch, marketing your work, adapting your novel into a screenplay or the reverse, as well as general coaching. Before our scheduled talk, you can email me your query letter, a synopsis (up to 3 pages), or the first 5 pages of your manuscript if you'd like to discuss it during our meeting.
(*Note: I do not critique or consult on children’s picture books, memoirs, non-fiction, or erotica.)
Opening Chapters Editorial Assessment
An ideal editor is a "first reader" who tries to help you better execute your vision while helping your writing to shine. Is your manuscript ready to be submitted to an agent? Is it ready to be read by an editor to be acquired by a publisher? Is it ready to be published...? Usually the answer is not yet. Manuscripts need thoughtful revisions before they are ready to go out into the world.
Over the years working with writers, I have found an opening chapters' assessment the best place to start, aka The Partial. Usually after receiving an assessment of your opening chapters, you will see a myriad of ways to improve your entire manuscript with further revisions on your own.
My assessment covers the first 25 pages of your manuscript. I will provide detailed feedback and email you a list of recommendations to help you on your revisions. My notes will include both big picture thoughts and specific notes at the line level, usually inserted into the Word document in track changes. My assessment includes a 30-minute followup Zoom or phone call to go over my notes where you can ask me any questions.
(Note * I do not do line edits or a full manuscript critique. If you are ready to work with an editor, then I can recommend several.)
Workshops & Guest Speaking
For schools, writing groups, and organizations, I do guest speaking and also teach creative writing workshops, both in person and online. One of my specialities is my Intuitive Writing Workshop that I created. Over Zoom, this is generally a 90 minute to 2 hour session and it is a lot of fun. Reach out for more details.
Please email me to let me know what service you are interested in.
